Telcare is voted People's Choice Winner via Text Voting
SAN DIEGO, CA – At today’s first-ever CTIA Fund Fest, Chyngle, a mobile applications provider to sporting, shopping and other venues, received the Champion award by a panel of judges. Telcare, which links patients with chronic illnesses to their doctors using mobile technology, won the People’s Choice award selected by show attendees via text message. In addition to the two winners, finalists included: Billing Revolution, Mjedi and ParkVu. Their presentations were judged by Quinn Li, managing director, Qualcomm Ventures; Rory Moore, CEO, CommNexus San Diego; and Andy Seybold, CEO and principal consultant, Andrew Seybold, Inc.
CTIA Fund Fest took place on the keynote stage at International CTIA WIRELESS I.T. & Entertainment 2009® this morning. Produced in partnership with MobiTechFest, CTIA Fund Fest invited budding entrepreneurs and start-ups to submit executive summaries and investor pitches for innovative mobile products and services that spanned several entry categories. A review committee comprised of partners from top venture capitalist firms evaluated the applications and selected the five finalists who presented on stage this morning.
“Today’s CTIA Fund Fest winners will drive the next wave of mobile innovations,” said Robert Mesirow, vice president and show director for CTIA. “From wireless health to m-commerce, our finalists all demonstrated the continued growth and innovation of the mobile business sector.”
Chyngle, voted Champion by the judges’ panel, is a B2B mobile application platform that enables any venue to create a white label application to enhance the customer experience during events, increase venue and vendor revenue and communicate directly to attendees through a venue-branded interactive in-pocket marketing channel. Chyngle customers include: shopping malls, sports sand concert stadiums, amusement parks and others. Chyngle’s mobile technology dynamically connects users with each other as well as with the venue’s vendors and facilities based on sharing a similar location. Founder and CEO Todd Sullivan accepted the Champion award.
Telcare, the People’s Choice winner, uses machine-2-machine cellular technology to link patients with chronic illness to physicians and other caregivers in order to improve compliance with treatment and outcomes of care. By creating an immediate two-way feedback loop between patient and caregiver, Telcare has already demonstrated the potential to reduce incidence and costs of complications by nearly 40 percent, at no added cost to the health care system. Unlike other proposed solutions which require new reimbursement mechanisms for financial viability, Telcare’s approach replaces already reimbursed testing devices and supplies with m2m-enabled technology in order to tap into the existing $12 billion global marketplace for chronic disease testing. Jonathan Javitt, founder and CEO accepted the People’s Choice award.
All five CTIA Fund Fest finalists received a complimentary exhibit and marketing package for a 2010 CTIA event valued at more than $25,000 and a block of public relations consulting time from Media Strategies, Inc.
